Just Pondering…
When checking the label for Nutrition Facts of Marshmallow Creme, it shows there are 0 grams of protein.
Marshmallow Creme is also known as Marshmallow Cream and Marshmallow Fluff.
It was always my impression that marshmallow cream is made mostly of egg whites which has protein. I was thinking is was made on the order of meringue.
So upon checking the label a little further, I found that indeed, the marshmallow has egg whites as an ingredient.
However, the protein content is 0 — no grams of protein.
The ingredients of Marshmallow Fluff are: Corn Syrup, Sugar, Dried Egg White, Vanillin.
The ingredients of Marshmallow Creme are: Corn Syrup, Sugar, Water, Egg Whites, Artificial Flavor, Xanthan gum, Salt, Lactic Acid.
The amount of “Dried Egg White” and “Egg Whites” must be very minute. There are 3.6 grams of protein in the whites of one large egg.
Maybe they used only one egg for an entire batch ? ? ?
